PhD positions in basic and applied biomedical and clinical reserach

The Medical Faculty of Tübingen is seeking highly qualified candidates for
8 PhD positions for projects in basic and applied biomedical and clinical research, to be filled from June 2015 onwards.

Individual reserach topics are
  • Neurobiology of processing vocal emotions in unipolar and bipolar depression
  • Closed-loop neuroprosthetics
  • Neuromodulation and neurorehabilitation
  • Immunology
  • Interaction of thrombocyte inflammation mediators and their receptors
  • Regulation of thrombocyte function and thrombocyte-monocyte interaction
  • Significance of DAMP on the link between thrombosis and inflammation
  • Analysis of the assembly of bacterial type III secretion systems
 Entry requirements are
  • Graduation from a medical school (German "Staatsexamen" or equivalent) or a Diploma or Master of Science degree in the Life sciences or related disciplines
  • English proficiency
  • Previous research experience can be advantageous
The PhD projects will be carried out in an international, interdisciplinary environment at one of the eleven German universities recognized in the German “Excellence Initiative.” The Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen specializes in a number of innovative fields of research, including neuroscience, imaging science, translational immunology and cancer research, microbiology and infection research.
Depending on the PhD position, the projects involve interesting networking possibilities with top-level national and international research institutions. Participation in the structured PhD Program Experimental Medicine or one of our
Graduate Schools is encouraged. Both programs offer excellent training and supervision of the candidates to prepare them for an international career in science. Within the PhD Program, medical students have the option of pursuing
a MD/PhD double degree.
PhD students will receive a tax-free fellowship or a corresponding work contract for 3 years.
