Research Fellow in Cardiac Regeneration

In the Department of Molecular Cardiology (Prof. Dr. Jürgen Schrader) at the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf the position of a Research Fellows is immediately available (TV-L13 ½ for two years) to study the role of immune cells in cardiac regeneration.
In previous experiments we have made the observation that a unique stem cell population from human umbilical cord blood (USSC) can induce cardiac regeneration after myocardial infarction. The present project - funded by the Research Council of our Medical Faculty – aims to investigate the molecular mechanism of this phenomenon by studying the immune response of the rat heart (FACS) after myocardial infarction and applying differential proteomic techniques (MS) on collected interstitial fluid.
We are a dynamic and interdisciplinary research team combining immune cell isolation from cardiac tissue, cytokine profiling and in-vivo characterization of cardiac function.
The ideal candidate should have experience in immunological, cell biological and molecular biological methods including skills in proteomic techniques. Good command of English and German is required.
