We analyze autophagy by doing expression studies and using reporter-systems that are FACS and immunofluorescence based.

Project 2 (Dr. Anna Brichkina) focuses on developing new therapeutic approaches to target the tumor stroma for cancer therapy. Work includes a combination of cell culture based experiments, molecular biology techniques and in vivo studies. Different methods such as 3D co-culture of human and mouse cells, isolation and culturing of primary cells, identification and validation of the potential targets will be used.

Both projects combine basic research with translational aspects and involve working with laboratory animals.
