Research Assistant (PhD student)

The third party funded position is offered for a period of 3 years, if no former times of qualification must be considered. The starting date is as soon as possible. The position is part-time (65 % of regular working hours) with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H E 13, 65 %).

Activities and responsibilities

The duties include scientific services in research and education, in particular collaboration in the project 'Mitochondrial T-cell reprogramming in virus-induced COPD exacerbation/empysema progression' in the research area of the institute. This is a sub-project of the DFG-funded Clinical Research Group KFO309 'Virus-induced Lung injury: Pathobiology and Novel Therapeutic Strategies' (http://www.kfo309.de/) (contact person is PD Dr. C. Skevaki: Chrysanthi.Skevaki@uk-gm.de).

The position is limited to a time period deemed adequate for the completion of a doctoral degree. As part of the assigned duties, there will be ample opportunity to conduct the independent scientific research necessary for the completion of a doctorate. The limitation complies to § 2, 1 WissZeitVG.

Qualification profile

The successful applicant will hold a Diploma, a MSc-degree or equivalent in natural sciences with experiences in immunology/virology, cell and/or molecular biological methods and, ideally, expertise in animal experiments. Disposition to own scientific qualification is expected.
