The German Diabetes Center (DDZ) is Leibniz Institute for Diabetes Research at Heinrich Heine University (HHU) Düsseldorf. We aim at developing new approaches to the prevention, early diagnosis and diagnosis of diabetes and to improve the treatment and care of diabetes and its complications.

The Institute for Clinical Diabetology of the DDZ (Director: Prof. Dr. Michael Roden, MD), working group Clinical Research Center (Julia Szendrödi, MD, PhD), is looking for a candidate in the position of

Physician/Clinical researcher


Key deliverables:

  • Assessment of study participants in clinical trials
  • Performing various metabolic tests and clinical examinations (glucagon test, hyperinsulinemic clamp-test
    spiroergometry, ultrasound, muscle and adipose tissue biopsies)
  • Designing protocols for clinical studies after intensive training
  • Independent project supervision and coordination of clinical studies
  • National and international cooperations with clinical research centers

Skills and Expertise:

  • University degree in medicine and approbation
  • Commitment, enthusiasm for clinical research in the field of metabolic regulation
  • Strong communication skills, excellent social and organizational skills and patient-centric thinking
  • Confident spoken and written German and excellent knowledge of English required
  • Experience in clinical research (of advantage but not required)
  • Completed residency training (of advantage but not required)

  • The initial contract runs till end of 2020 with an option of extension.
  • Salary is regulated by the collective agreement for the civil service of the state (TV-L) in the version valid for the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
  • Women are given preference for equal qualification.
  • Severely handicapped persons will be preferred in case of equal qualification.
