PhD studentship in Reproductive Medicine, School of Medicine, University College Dublin.
A three year PhD studentship is available at the School of Medicine and Medical Science, Health Sciences Centre. The successful applicant will work on a project aimed to analyse the effects of sexing on bovine spermatozoa and sperm-oviduct interaction using live cell imaging and probe-based confocal laser endomicroscopy (pCLE). The project includes travelling and gaining additional experience in labs in the UK.
The successful candidate will have a research focused role, where he/she will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of the Principal Investigator. The PhD student will engage in the reporting and dissemination of the results of the research as directed by the Principal Investigator including presentation at national and international meetings and publication in peer-reviewed academic publications.
Applicants must have a degree in a relevant life sciences discipline (upper second class honours or higher grade) and have a keen interest in male reproduction, especially in working with spermatozoa.
They should have extraordinary engagement, excellent communication skills (oral and written) and good organisational skills including an ability to work to deadlines.
Previous experience in research is highly desirable.
