Cryo-EM Facility Manager Position (m/f)

The position is available immediately in the newly established Department of Structural Biochemistry (Director: Stefan Raunser). It is initially limited to 2 years, but can ultimately become permanent.
Job description: The Electron Microscopy Unit at the MPI Dortmund is currently undergoing an exciting period of up­grading and expansion. The candidate will be involved in the development and application of advanced electron microsco­py technologies such as single particle cryo-electron microscopy and cryo-electron tomography. The job responsibilities will include operation and maintenance of state-of-the-art electron microscopes, including a FEI Titan Krios and JEOL JEM 3200 FSC, and accessory equipment as well as computational data analysis.
Requirements: The candidate should have a degree in biological sciences, engineering, material sciences or a related field of science, training in the use and routine maintenance of electron microscopes, as well as expertise in specimen preparation techniques. Previous experience in cryo-EM and image processing would be an advantage. Strong oral com­munication skills in English are considered.
Payment: Payment depends on personal conditions and qualification according to the directive of TVöD. Social benefits correspond to those of the public service.
