PhD position
at the University of Innsbruck, Department of Pharmacy / Pharmacognosy
The project “vascular disease, aortic aneurysm, stroke, and cardiac disease” (VASCage) is aimed to get insights in vascular aging and the molecular pathways involved. As part of a consortium of several institutions from academia and research-interested companies we will focus on following main research objectives:
  • to unravel the role of promising dietary ingredients in metabolic inflammation, atherosclerosis, and vascular longevity
  • to evaluate the prognostic significance of selected markers
  • to identify novel gut metabolites relevant to cardiovascular disease
  • to make first steps in characterizing the gut microbiota and define potential effects on vascular aging
Job profile
  • development and validation of analytical methods for target analysis particularly by LC- and GC-MS
  • set-up of validated protocols for metabolic profiling of biofluids by LC-MS and NMR
  • consecutive data analysis
  • Identification of putative biomarkers by NMR and LC-NMR
Your Qualifications
  • Master's degree or equivalent in natural sciences
  • Hands-on experience in analytical techniques as LC-MS/MS, GC-MS and NMR
  • Skills in bioinformatics
  • Ability and interest to work in an interdisciplinary environment, flexibility, innovative and creative thinking
  • Interest and ambition to make a significant contribution to the project
