The Fraunhofer IME ScreeningPort in Hamburg, with its experience in the development of biological assay systems, hight-throughput drug discovery and the identification of diagnostic biomarkers offers with immediate effect a job opening as Stem Cell Laboratory Technician (m/f).

The position is a technical role focusing on cultivation of induced pluripotent stem cells in a (GLP-like) regulated environment.

  • Routine cell culture of mES and hiPS cells
  • Implementation and validation of differentiation protocols
  • Creation of standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Molecular and functional characterization of stem cell derived disease models
  • Development and validation of cytotoxicity assay formats (e.g. embryonic stem cell assay) as well as cell based assays for drug discovery
  • Data analysis of assay output
  • General laboratory housekeeping & ordering
  • Documentation and Quality Management

Essential Requirements:
  • Excellent skills in mammalian cell culture
  • Work experience in the area of pluripotent stem cell cultivation (minimum 2 years)
  • Experience in cell-based assays for drug discovery
  • Ability to work as team player with good communication skills
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office and Data Analysis software
  • Good knowledge of English, spoken and written
  • Flexibility to work on weekends (limited tending on a rotational basis)

Additional Qualifications:
  • Knowledge in relevant Quality Management Systems (GLP)
  • Experience within an industrial laboratory environment would be an advantage

General Information:
Fixed-term employment limited to two years, with chance of further contract extension.
Appointment, remuneration and social security benefits based on the TVöD.
