PhD position in the research group of Prof. E. Bordignon, working on the DFG project "Conformational dynamics and regulation of type I ABC transporter for maltose in bacteria" and on the project "Species specific variations in ABC exporters".

The work will include application of continuous wave and pulsed EPR (DEER) methods with orthogonal labels, as well as optimization of pulsed EPR schemes using arbitrary wave form generators. (S)he will carry out biophysical research at the intersection of electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy and structural biology.

Requirements: Degree (master or diploma) in physics, biophysics or chemistry. Fluency in English.

Desirable: Knowledge of quantum mechanics, NMR, EPR, biophysics. Preferably, the candidate should have some background on EPR (e.g. Bachelor or Master thesis) and matlab programming.

Start of employment: February or March 2015
Duration: 3 years
