Junior Research Group Leader (m/f/d)
“Machine learning / Deep learning for Neuroimaging”
(Pay grade E14 TV-L - temporary employment)

The Employment is provided initially for 36 months to obtain a postdoctoral lecture qualification. The position includes funding for a PhD position (E13 TV-L, 65%) for three years. The pay grade classification depends on the personal and collective legal requirements. An extension of the job duration might be possible according to the maximum employment duration as given by laws regarding scientific fixed-term contracts (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz). We are looking for a scientist with internationally recognized expertise in the field of Neuro-MR imaging. In particular, expertise in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques is desired.

Job description:

The establishment of an own research program in the field of machine learning / deep learning analysis of brain MRI data is expected. Close cooperation with the Collaborative Research Center SFB 1280 (co-speaker Prof. Dr. D. Timmann), funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, on the mechanisms of extinction learning is desired. Deep learning techniques should be applied for analysis of (f)MRI data collected in SFB 1280.

Job qualifications:

We are looking for postdocs with a background in physics, computer science or engineering. Postdocs with a background in neuroscience, neuropsychology or neurobiology and advanced experience in brain (f)MR imaging are also invited to apply. The applicant should be experienced in machine learning / deep learning methods in the analysis of (f)MRI data of the brain. Publications in the field of neuro-MR imaging are expected in peer-reviewed journals, in particular in leading international journals and experience in the acquisition of competitive third-party funds. Involvement in international research and relevant international experience is a plus.
