PhD Student (m/f)
The position will be available from August, 2016. The employment contract is limited to three years. The regular weekly working time will be 19,5 hours per week. The salary is based on the collective agreement TVöD-Bund. The place of work is Dresden-Rossendorf.
- Master degree or Diploma in theoretical physics with exellent marks in quantum statistical description of many particle systems
- excellent programming skills and proficiency in spoken and written English
- knowledge in strategies to solve Schroedinger-type equations are highly appreciated
The project aims to solve the two-particle electron-hole problem in warm dense matter. The solution of the related Bethe-Salpeter equation for the polarization function gives input to calculate the dynamic structure factor as measured via x-ray scattering and can be related to energy transfer rates as needed to describe temperature relaxation in Iaser produced warm dense matter.
The successful applicant will run existing simulation software as well as program new code in this regard. The project is part of the HIBEF initiative and there will be collaboration with other theory efforts as well as with experimental groups in Germany and abroad.
