PhD Position in Biomedical Engineering (Tele-rehabilitation)

Within the Gerontechnology and Rehabilitation Group, clinicians, psychologists, and engineers collaborate with a goal to develop and evaluate assistive and rehabilitative technologies to enhance autonomy and promote independent living in the elderly and patients.

Activities and responsibilities

We are seeking a motivated PhD student to develop and implement tele-rehabilitation applications for both clinical and home settings. The main tasks of the PhD thesis include software development of a new (tele-)rehabilitation system for speech therapy and cognitive training. The candidate will work in close interaction with clinicians, nurses, therapists, patients and caregivers for design specifications and evaluation of the new system.

Qualification profile

For this position, we are looking for a dynamic and self-motivated person with a master’s degree in computer science, bioinformatics, information technology and/or biomedical engineering. Interest to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of clinicians, engineers, neuroscientists, and willingness to interact with patients is important.
