Position Description

  • Lead software development efforts that help scientists discover cures, treatments and vaccines for serious diseases - for true impact on people and society
  • Orchestrate diverse components and sub-systems, from Embedded to IoT, from Cloud to Mobile App, from Data Science to Machine Learning
  • As an empowered and accountable tech expert, define, implement and monitor the strategy, principles, structure and culture of a newly founded software development unit
  • For senior applicants: lead the software unit’s members; hire and retain talent
  • Create, define and shape high level architecture according to the customer needs of a product, translate product vision or customer requirements into a high level software architecture
  • Present and promote your solution across departments and disciplines
  • Define guidelines for development partners and support them in their work
  • Ensure integration between our (sub-)systems via suitable interfaces
  • Define and ensure that the high quality standard of our software is met
  • Work closely with our development partners and other functions in the QIAGEN organization
  • Support innovation, share ideas
  • Work in an international and interdisciplinary team

Position Requirements

  • University degree in Computer-Science or comparable work experience
  • 2+ years working experience as a software architect, (5+ for senior role)
  • Experience in coding in Java, C# or C++
  • Skills in Spring, RESTful (micro-)services, virtualization/containerization, TDD, Clean
  • Code and web technologies are preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of English (verbal and written)
  • Practical experience in agile software development is a plus
