PhD position in DNA-Encoded Chemistry (Brunschweiger group) (m/f/d)
Activities and responsibilities
The PhD student will work in the field of DNA-encoded library (DEL) technology within the framework of an international research consortium that includes the Brunschweiger group and research groups at the Universities of Manchester and Newcastle. The student will synthesize DNA-encoded libraries using a novel barcoding strategy and in-house developed synthesis methods. These libraries will be used to identify inhibitors for disease-relevant enzymes and other targets, mainly from oncology. Thus, the applicant will learn all aspects of DELs, a technology that is being used by all major Pharma companies for small molecule screening.
Qualification profile
The following qualifications are required:
- University Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, or in a related subject like Life Sciences or a Pharmacy degree (2. Staatsexamen or equivalent);
- Strong interest in interdisciplinary work in a Life-Science-related subject
- The applicant should have sound knowledge of organic chemistry and biochemistry.
We offer
The contract starts at earliest and will be fixed term for an initial period of three years. The position is time/part time. Remuneration will be according to the Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst der Länder (collective agreement for the public service of German federal states, “TV-L”).
