The Chair for Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry
at the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (Germany) is offering a position as
Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/d) in the field of “RNA delivery and Lipid Nanoparticles”
under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Andreas Brunschweiger.
The position is full time and limited to a maximum duration of two years with the possibility of extension; remuneration will be according to the Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst der Länder (collective agreement for the public service of German federal states, “TV-L”). Part time employment is possible, unless all job duties can be fulfilled by job sharing.
Project description
The position is an integral component of the research consortium “RNA delivery and Lipid Nanoparticles” including industry collaborators, start-up companies, and academic partners which is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK).
The consortium is developing innovative polymers enabling efficient lipid nanoparticle (LNP) production for mRNA delivery with the ultimate goal of reaching remote tissues.
The offered position provides unique abilities, immediately on-site work (Hybrid-Lipid/Hybrid-Polymer synthesis, LNP manufacture, advanced cell cultures, single-cell RNA seq., etc.), and access to all critical expertise required for the R&D of advanced delivery systems for therapeutic mRNA, including various cells derived from induced pluripotent stem cells, animal studies, and advanced imaging modalities.
Applicants should hold a PhD and have a strong scientific background in chemical/process engineering, nucleic acid/oligonucleotide chemistry, chemical biology, biochemistry, or pharmacy. Experience with molecular biology techniques and cell culture is an advantage. The position is open immediately.
Qualifications
- A strong desire to perform research with enthusiasm, creativity, and high grade of self-motivation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of an international team.
- Outstanding PhD in in pharmacy, chemistry, material science, biochemistry, physics, or a related field.
- Practical skills in pharmaceutical sciences and/ or chemistry and/or biochemistry.
- Strong written and spoken English language communication skills.
